Claire Lewis is a poet who specializes in copywriting, grant writing, editing, and proofreading for visual artists. She enjoys the challenge of translating a visual artist’s understanding of texture, scale, and movement into language that communicates to a larger audience why their art is valuable. She hopes Five Crows will help to bring more uninhibited joy into the world by helping people avoid the psychic burden of balancing generative work with art bureaucracy.

Barbara Pearsall is a transdisciplinary artist who has applied to numerous residencies, grants, and open calls in the past ten years. She finds a particular thrill in strategizing and framing compelling arguments through the sometimes limiting language of application prompts. For her, Five Crows is a way of combining art and practice into a sustainable way of providing aid and support for all artists.
